EDRA
Founded in 1987 by Valerio and Monica Mazzei in Tuscany, EDRA is an Italian furniture brand known for combining technological research, craftsmanship and an unconventional approach to contemporary design. The company was established in Perignano, near Pisa, and quickly gained international recognition for furniture that challenged traditional ideas of form, materials and comfort.
The name EDRA comes from esedra, an architectural space found in ancient Greek and Roman buildings, open on one side and designed for conversation and social interaction. This reference reflects an idea that remains central to the brand: furniture should interact naturally with both people and the architecture around it.

Over the years, EDRA has developed a distinctive collection of sofas, armchairs, chairs, tables, beds, cabinets and lighting. Rather than following a single aesthetic language, the brand approaches every piece as an individual project, bringing together advanced technology, material experimentation and exceptional Italian craftsmanship.
Collaborations have played an important role in EDRA’s history. The company has worked with designers and architects including Francesco Binfaré, Fernando and Humberto Campana, Jacopo Foggini, Masanori Umeda, Massimo Morozzi and Zaha Hadid. These collaborations have produced some of the most recognisable pieces in contemporary Italian design.
Comfort and innovation remain fundamental to EDRA. Technologies such as the Smart Cushion and Gellyfoam® have been developed to make seating adaptable and highly comfortable while remaining almost invisible within the design. Alongside technological research, EDRA is recognised for an extensive exploration of fabrics, upholstery and unconventional materials.
Today, EDRA represents a distinctive expression of Italian design, where experimentation, craftsmanship and technology come together in furniture created for contemporary interiors.
