Founded in 1990 by Luigi and Paolo Bestetti, uncle and nephew, BAXTER was born in the Lake Como region, an area renowned for its long-standing tradition of furniture making and fine leather craftsmanship. Driven by a genuine passion for leather and its endless possibilities, the brand quickly established itself as a leading name in contemporary Italian design.
The story of BAXTER is closely tied to the discovery of a small Italian tannery, where traditional natural aniline tanning techniques revealed the full expressive potential of leather. In fact, it was a hide considered too thick by the standards of the time that inspired the brand’s very first sofa—an experiment that would go on to define BAXTER’s identity: daring where others hesitate and transforming imperfection into a distinctive signature.
For more than thirty years, BAXTER has collaborated with internationally renowned designers, including Paola Navone, Piero Lissoni, and Christophe Delcourt, who have translated the brand’s artisanal spirit into collections of sofas, armchairs, beds, tables, and accessories with a unique visual character.
